All About Reed

Reed knew how to touch the lives of everyone he met with his bright blue eyes and friendly smile. He was a friend and a supporter to everyone he met and knew how to make everyone feel special and important. He stood up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves. Reed's title of "big brother" stretched far beyond his family. He was silly, always having a funny noise to make or a video to record of himself. He believed in living a carefree life, never being afraid to take chance or make a mistake. Reed was an exceptional athlete from a young age; playing baseball, basketball, and football throughout much of his life. He truly shined on the football field every Friday night as he led his Westhill Warriors at quarterback. He told us all that playing on that field would always be his happiest memories.

Reed took his own life on March 24, 2014. Many of those around him could not imagine how a young man who was so happy, carefree, and well liked could have felt so sad. Suicide is an epidemic and the third leading cause of death of teens currently! We hope Reed can bring attention and awareness to this growing and preventable statistic.

Our goal is for Reed's memory to live on through those who knew him. We hope that Reed's Warriors will be a community of Reed's friends, family, teammates, classmates, and anyone else, whose life was somehow touched by Reed's.  Above all, we would live everyone to remember Reed by the way he lived, rather than by the way he died and live the way he did. We encourage everyone to seek kindness and to remember to be nice to one another and know that is okay to not be okay.
